Kwamina's Tech classes each spent a period in our Makerspace this week. An important task she posed for them was "As you work at a station, consider how we can integrate this into our classroom work." Working with students directly with technology has given me new insight into "Digital native" especially with the Green Screen technology, (compliments of Green Screen by Do Ink). When I asked how do we get a pic of you on your device, immediately "camera" was the answer - and once they chose camera, they flipped the screen to choose the other view - something I would have had to structurally walk myself through with a few self-words of encouragement, (aka talking to myself!)
I'm attaching pics of two additions to our Makerspace - 1) a Resource Book, 2) a Monthly Scheduling Calendar, (empty now except for Parker, but soon to fill up I hope!) The Resource Book came from the realization that we can't store EVERYTHING we might receive as a donation. Example: Hayley & Aiden's mom called with the offer to supply 100s of amber pill bottles, (empty, clean of course!) but instead of delivering them today, she is willing to let me call her when we have the specific need. The Makerspace Resource Book was born. The Scheduling Calendar is a re-purposed dry erase board from my days as a Curriculum Coordinator. It served me well scheduling testing. Although it's painted a bright lime green, it seems to blend in well with the decor - feng shui? Definitely MAKER!
