end productsELA Study Skills teacher, Ms Morris spent three days in the Makerspace recently with her great group of very talented students. As a culmination of their learning literary devices like similes, assonance, onomatapeia (sp- I'm sure..) that are just just to be found in poems and stories, but in popular songs. The students viewed Pharrell Williams' Happy video with the lyrics. They worked to find the devices within the song, then with partners, wrote the next verse including their own literary devices. Where the Makerspace came in was the filming of their videos. They found backgrounds, I supplied the Karaoke version. Using GreenScreen by DoInk, a data projector, computer, and speakers we accomplished amazing learning. I emailed the end products to Ms Morris to show in class, and then like they did with Pharrell Williams' song, they found the literary devices in their peer's verses! It was wonderful! Because of the shyness of our performers, I only have set up pics. I was asked and assured them I would delete all of the videos once they'd been safely transferred to Ms Morris.
